If he did the support part, then it’s totally ok he cools down a bit after things don’t turn out as expected. Not good if he starts to act nasty, that’s mean and unnecessary, but to shift his priority to a different player with potential is entirely understandable, star players get treated a bit better, role players don’t get the same thing, that’s true in any field of work, not just in sports
