Tensions inside the courtroom escalated when Hanoman signalled the impending additional charges, once again arguing for the Opposition Leader’s bail in the extradition case to be revoked. Overcome with emotion during the prosecutor’s submission, Shell Mohamed stood up inside the courtroom and shouted, “He is being victimized… he is being victimized… I’ve been coming here for over a year and listening to lies!” His voice broke as he wept, prompting the Chief Magistrate to intervene and declare that there would be order in the court. The court orderly then approached Shell Mohamed, asking him to quiet down as order was restored to the proceedings. He then apologised and took his seat. On Monday, the Chief Magistrate ruled that past conduct without a conviction or pending conviction is not sufficient grounds to revoke the bail granted to the Opposition Leader in the extradition proceedings. Her ruling followed an application by the prosecution to revoke Mohamed’s bail on the grounds that he was recently remanded to prison in connection with a cybercrime charge. However, during his arguments on Tuesday, Hanoman contended that Azruddin Mohamed had not been charged earlier because "all his conduct has an underlying of bribery and corruption and he is being exposed now because he is no longer being protected. He has for decades bribed governments. It's not that he is being victimized, that's why he has never been charged before". Prosecutor Hanoman told the court that additional charges relating to cybercrime offences will be brought against the Opposition Leader. He also disclosed that investigators have evidence and statements allegedly linking Azruddin Mohamed to the murder of Ricardo Fagundes, known as “Paper Shorts”.
