18 years ago… yet it feels like yesterday! 🎶 A treasured photograph from a private musical gathering on 31 August 2008, alongside two of the great masters of Syrian music, Tarab and Inshad: the late Sabah Fakhri (1933–2021) and Hassan Haffar (1943–2020). I had the privilege of accompanying Sheikh Hassan Haffar for three years, an invaluable period of musical and personal experience. This evening was among the last occasions on which I accompanied him. I still vividly remember the profound conversations that evening, particularly Sabah Fakhri’s remarkable reflections and comments on several subjects. Some of these memories deserve to be shared in greater depth, and I hope their time will come. More than a photograph, this is a precious chapter of my musical journey — a reminder of the extraordinary masters from whom we learned through listening, accompanying, and sharing musical traditions firsthand. Eighteen years have passed, yet the memory remains as vivid as ever. May their souls rest in peace, and may their remarkable musical legacy continue to inspire generations. Aleppo Syria SabahFakhri HassanHaffar Tarab Inshad Muwashshahat SyrianMusic MusicalHeritage
