@wbztv: Students, parents and alumni of Charlestown High School rallied Monday against a proposal to close the school in 2028, calling for more transparency from Boston Public Schools and urging officials to reconsider the plan. Students marched out of the school after classes Monday, carrying signs and chanting in opposition to the proposed closure, at one point swarming the superintendent. Parents and community members joined them, saying they were blindsided by the announcement and concerned about what it would mean for the neighborhood. Leaders say enrollment has declined to a point beyond repair. #massachusetts #charlestown #bps
I mean the school has like one of the lowest ratings and probably known as one of the worst high schools in Massachusetts so I don’t know why they’re fighting for this lol

My daughter has a learning disability and unfortunately, this was the only school that offered her the program that she needed. I really hope we can save this school cause she is currently attending there.

They shouldn’t close this. They just brought kids from another closed school. How are parents supposed to afford to send them further away?

It's a sad reality but facilities/maintenance costs for the City are skyrocketing. It's more economical for the city to consolidate that way funding can go towards students rather than half empty facilities.
