An undercover ITV News investigation has exposed racist, sexist and extremist views of Reform UK politicians - condemned by the Labour Party as “truly sickening”. Nigel Farage has responded to the report by saying it was carried out “because the establishment frankly want us out of the picture”. Warning, this report contains comments viewers may find offensive. In footage from ITV’s ‘Undercover: A Year in Reform’, the party’s councillor for Solihull, Alan Feeney, said his area had become “infested” with Asian families. Meanwhile, Reform councillor for Bromley, Dean Miller, was recorded referring to black children as “animals”. Other candidates were also recorded making comments of extreme violence and sharing deeply misogynistic views, with one councillor recorded making graphic sexual and misogynistic comments about female colleagues. In response to ITV News’ investigation, Reform UK said there was “no room for racism” in its ranks. A spokesman said the party had “improved and prioritised its vetting procedures, but from time to time a handful of individuals who do not share our values” have made it through their checks. They added: “This is the same for all organisations. However good the vetting, one cannot vet a future comment especially in circumstances where an individual is entrapped in a discussion with an undercover reporter. “There is no room for racism in Reform UK.” Reform says the people filmed by ITV are all under investigation and have already resigned or been suspended. The Labour Party’s chairwoman said “the extreme racism and appalling behaviour exposed by this investigation is truly sickening.” Bridget Phillipson said the examples of “extreme racism” in Reform could not be brushed off as “a few bad apples”, and that Nigel Farage has to kick anyone found to have made such “despicable” comments out of the party. Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey described ITV’s report as “chilling” and said: “It’s the very worst of what we’re seeing in Trump’s America. We can’t let it become Farage’s Britain.” Nigel Farage believes the investigation was carried out “because the establishment frankly want us out of the picture”. Speaking on a visit to Chelmsford in Essex on Thursday, he said: “You can’t vet people for what they say in the future and of these people on ITV that have caused outrage, the worst of them by far was a Conservative councillor for years and years and years who joined us last year.” [Credit: Undercover: A Year In Reform, Sunday 18th October at 10.20pm on ITV1, ITVX, STV & STV Player] #5News
