@gibsongirl88: There is a kind of exhaustion that sleep alone cannot fix. An exhaustion that comes from spending years preparing for the next disappointment, the next crisis, the next heartbreak… the next thing you have to survive. And when someone says, "You're so strong. You'll get through this," sometimes all you want to say is… I know I will. But I'm tired of having to. 💔 For those living with CPTSD and the aftermath of prolonged trauma, this exhaustion can run much deeper than people realize. Our nervous systems may have spent years learning that safety is unpredictable. Even when the danger has passed, our bodies can continue responding as though another threat is just around the corner. 🧠 FIGHT: Becoming defensive or irritable because your nervous system senses danger. 🌪️ FLIGHT: Staying busy, overthinking, or constantly preparing for what might go wrong. ❄️ FREEZE: Feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unable to take action. 💜 FAWN: Putting everyone else's needs before your own because keeping others happy once felt necessary for survival. These responses aren't character flaws. They're protective patterns that can develop when our bodies and minds repeatedly experience overwhelming stress. But here's something I wish more people understood… Surviving isn't the same as living. And being incredibly resilient doesn't mean we aren't profoundly exhausted. Sometimes we don't need another lesson about strength. We need consistency. Gentleness. Emotional safety. Healthy boundaries. People whose actions match their words. We need opportunities to experience peace without immediately wondering when it will disappear. 🌿 Healing isn't about forcing ourselves to stop having trauma responses. It's about gradually building enough safety, support, and awareness that our nervous systems can begin to respond differently. It's learning that we can pause without guilt. That we can say no without abandoning our compassion. That we can rest without having to earn it through suffering. And that not every quiet moment is simply the calm before another storm. 🦋 You have already proven that you can survive difficult things. You deserve the opportunity to discover what life feels like when survival is no longer your only priority. If this resonates with you, I hope you know that your exhaustion deserves compassion, not another demand to be strong. 💜 What do you wish people understood about the exhaustion that comes with living in survival mode? 🎶 Fortanarch — Sebastian Plano (TikTok Music) #CPTSDRecovery #TraumaResponses #NervousSystemHealing #SurvivalMode #TraumaAwareness
