@polisheats: Remember Gorski Bakery & Deli? Located at 2835 N. Central Avenue, just south of Diversey in Chicago’s Belmont Cragin neighborhood, Gorski was one of the many Polish bakeries and delicatessens that once lined the streets of Chicago’s Northwest Side. The bakery was part of a thriving Polish business community, serving generations of neighborhood residents. While we couldnt find the official opening date nor the owners name, we do know it was operating in the 1990s and closed in 2013. By 2014, another bakery operator had obtained a license at the same location. Although its exact opening and closing dates remain unclear, Gorski represents another piece of Chicago’s disappearing Polish business history. Do you remember Gorski Bakery? What was your favorite thing to buy there? 🇵🇱 #PolishEats #Polonia #PolishChicago #BelmontCragin #ChicagoHistory
