@doctorramani: Why do you keep trying to get difficult people to be good to you? Childhood trauma survivor and someone I greatly admire Patrick Teahan reveals one of the most important things you will ever hear on The Dr. Ramani Network! 🔗Link in bio
I’m literally 10 years behind as an adult. It’s infuriating. I’m 36 but doing what a 26 is usually doing. I feel like I’ve lost so much

And sometimes, that difficult person is OURSELVES! Self sabotage, addiction, self harm, negative self talk, poor self esteem, lack of identity, worthlessness etc..

I did that for soooooo many years. Trying to get abusive dismissive people to love and care about me. I finally stopped doing that in my late 30s early 40s. Childhood trauma is tough to overcome and move past.

Growing up in an abusive home has two potential outcomes. You can end up angry or with victim mentality. I was an angry person for a long time. I was in my early 30s when I started realizing that maybe I was the problem not everyone else since I always justified being angry and aggressive as a result of how I was raised by an abusive mother. Eventually I realized I can’t change the past and I grew and moved on. But most people love to stay in the victim role. I can say I’m no longer traumatized by my upbringing. Because it doesn’t affect my daily life anymore. But it took work and many years to get there.
