@wildlifeaid: He lost the tip of his tail 💔 Covered in mange, bearing some nasty bite wounds and with the tip of his tail hanging by a thread, this poor young man came to us in awful condition. A young fox’s first winter can be incredibly challenging. As they begin to find their feet on their own without their mothers, life can get tough, especially when trying to establish their own territory. Fights often break out between young foxes, which can result in injuries like these. 🫯 Upon admission, despite his injuries, little Jack was full of life and very feisty – which is probably how he got himself into trouble, in the first place! 🙄 His mange was severe and required immediate treatment, but, first, we had to address his injured tail, which needed urgent attention. Sadly, there was no way of saving the very tip of his brush. He was then given medication to help fight off the nasty mange, before his bite wounds were cleaned and treated to prevent infection. Finally, he was given some well-deserved food and rest. Jack has now begun his recovery at WAF, receiving around-the-clock care to ensure he heals as well as possible. We hope it won’t be too long until he’s back in the wild, where he belongs. 💚 Young foxes are particularly vulnerable as winter approaches and, sadly, this is the case for much of our wildlife.
