@aperfectlygoodenoughlife: It's November 3rd and we're just now pulling out the math books. 😂 And no, we're not spending the next few months trying to "catch up." One of the biggest reasons we homeschool is the freedom to decide what learning looks like for OUR family. We travel full-time, exploring new places, visiting museums and national parks, meeting people, and learning through everyday life. And now we're shifting into a season of more structured academics. Because learning doesn't have to happen between August and May. It doesn't have to happen five days a week. And it certainly doesn't have to happen at the exact same pace for every child. I've also stopped buying into the idea that kids are either "ahead" or "behind." Ahead of who? Behind what? Those labels are based on standards that assume kids should all be learning the same things at roughly the same ages. But kids aren't standardized. That doesn't mean I don't care about their education. I absolutely do. I want them to be challenged, make progress, and develop the skills they'll need in life. I just don't believe their progress needs to be measured against someone else's timeline. Curious where other homeschool families fall on this. Do you follow a traditional school calendar or make your own? #homeschoolfamily #roadschool #unschool
