@Agape Lite: To those who are confused about the ending, let me explain. Since the emperor has died, the next heir to the throne will be the unborn child Hongxian is carrying. As the mother of the future emperor, Hongxian's rank will be elevated. However, she will not become the Empress Dowager. That title and position belong to the principal wife of the late emperor, the rightful Empress. Until the young emperor comes of age and is capable of ruling, Wei Rao will be entrusted with governing the empire because of her authority and title as Princess Protector. In other words, she will serve as the regent, effectively exercising the emperor's governing powers on behalf of the child emperor. During this period, the officials and nobles of the empire will have to submit to her authority. In the final scene, you can see Wei Rao walking into the great hall, where the men waiting for her are lords and representatives from different kingdoms. Her arrival signifies that she is now the one who will receive them, oversee affairs of the empire, and represent the imperial authority. In other word, she's the " EMPEROR " acting and the most powerful woman in the realm at the moment.

I don't know but I am satisfied with the ending. I don't find it rushed but I still want more. Hope for a season 2 but if there's a season 2, I still want Lu Zhou and Wei Rao as a couple. No more unnecessary drama, unnecessary characters, unnecessary scenes.
