@meghannmcuniff: A Dallas police officer who worked off-duty for rapper Markies "Yella Beezy" Conway didn't disclose their discussions regarding Melvin "MO3" Noble Jr.'s murder until a prosecutor confronted him five years later. Nicholas Brooks answered "absolutely" when asked today if he now wishes he'd alerted investigators to the communications in 2020. He said he began working for Conway at the recommendation of another officer who was working for him but said "he wants to have police more frequently ... than she could accommodate for." Tommy Adams, a Dallas County assistant district attorney, questioned Brooks about the texts, which were displayed a summary chart this morning (Tuesday, November 3) during Conway's murder-for-hire trial. "You send a text message to Markies Conway, the defendant in this case. Was that right after you found out that Melvin Noble had been shot on I-35?" Adams asked. "I found out that there had been a shooting on 35 involving rapper," Brooks answered. "Okay, And what did he what did he respond to you?" Adams asked. "He says, 'Yeah, I'm cool. What's going on?'" Brooks said. "And you said, 'Call me.' Did you call him at that time?" Adams asked. "I believe he called me," Brooks said. "Okay. And what did y'all talk about during that phone call?" Adams asked. "I kind of told him what I had been hearing about involving a shooting going on on the highway," Brooks said. "And earlier this morning, you told me specifically you wanted to see whether or not what had happened?" Adams asked. "Whether or not he had done the shooting, or whether or not he was shot," Brooks answerd. Brooks said. learned from speaking with Conway that he was in California. He said he was first asked about the communicaitons "ast year sometime." "And how were you contacted?" Adams asked. "By you," Brooks answered. "And you and I met to discuss the content of these text messages and what and the phone calls that y'all had. Is that fair?" Adams asked. "Yes," Brooks answered. "Do you wish that you had actually provided this information to Detective Barnes back in 2020?" Adams asked. "Absolutely," Brooks answered. #thinblueline #rap
