I have been doing an experiment on myself and I have good news and bad news. For the past two weeks, I have been hypervigilant at blocking my ability to be on my phone (particularly social media). I have it set to be blocked all of the day and then unblock it for five minutes at a time to make a post and get out again. And I have to say everything is better. I am less anxious. I find myself not feeling perfect, but far more content. This has been especially important for me who must utilize social media in order to be an author. I have a platform and that is beneficial to sell books (comment BOOKS to shop my romcoms—including The Christmas Yes List fresh out and also releasing as a movie in 2 weeks!) and it’s beneficial in the eyes of publishers, etc. But the downside is that comparison is truly the thief of joy and it is so easy to struggle with joy when you are show via a continuous slideshow comparable content of other people who might be doing better than you. That contentment is tried and tempted. So I will just leave this here—- my thoughts, my musings. And I will continue to utilize the Opal app (no this isn’t a brand deal— ironically they reached out a while ago, and I turned them down in order to focus more on my family and my books.). This is just a wholehearted recommendation for those who might struggle sometimes to put their phone down or with an anxiety or discontentment that they can’t quite understand. It is far easier to be joyful when not on my phone (although I do find myself so grateful for the relationships that can be built from this and the messages). This is just the ramblings of one frazzled mother ever trying to create a peaceful, faithful, joyful environment for herself, and for her little ones. Perhaps it is a benefit to you as well. Have a wonderful weekend. Warmly, Melissa #Home #farmhouse #cozy #mom #peace
