@missclairebenjamin: Handling the pay rise that isn’t happening. When you’ve taken on more responsibilities and been promised a pay rise and a title change, but neither seems to be materialising, it can be incredibly frustrating. And you might start questioning whether it’s ever going to happen. The key here is to influence your manager to fight your corner, rather than approach the conversation in a way that gets their defences up. Because remember, your manager is a human being too. And when someone feels attacked or backed into a corner, they’re far less likely to feel motivated to advocate for you. Which is the opposite of what you want. Instead, I’d recommend being respectful whilst directly communicating your position, as I demonstrate in this video. When people don’t feel backed into a corner, they’re much more likely to work with you rather than against you. Have you been on either side of this situation? Ronnie :
Never share your plans if you’re looking for another job. Never use it as a bargaining chip with your manager. e.g. “If I don’t get a pay rise, I’m looking elsewhere.”
Bottom line, this isn’t an airport. You don’t need to announce your departure.
The moment an employee threatens to leave, I’m instantly turned off. I don’t invest in threats.

Ok but how do we get a paper trail of what actually happens sometimes it isn’t the direct supervisor that is the issue and sometimes it is.
