@...cajun007: The last wild red wolves were caught in the marshes of Louisiana and Texas 🐺 Red wolves once roamed the Southeast. By the late 1960s, the last ones lived in the coastal marshes of southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas. From 1973 to 1980, biologists captured about 400 wild canines; 14 became the founders of a captive breeding program, and in 1987 their descendants were released in North Carolina. Scientists have since found red wolf genes in Gulf Coast coyotes. Have y'all ever seen a coyote in the marsh that looked way too big? 👇 Follow @...cajun007 for more Louisiana stories. #Louisiana #LouisianaHistory #RedWolf #Wildlife #Marsh #Conservation #Coyote #Nature #HistoryTok #Cajun
