My partner has been on sodium valproate for epilepsy and is given a yearly review, every time she picks her medication she is advised not to get pregnant on them, and the box has a picture of a pregnant woman on the box with a big cross through it

My daughter has been on sodium valporate for 15 years now. Theres warning on the box do not take if ur trying to get pregnant or pregnant. Always been a warning. We're asked about every single year in our epilepsy review

the effects of valproate on children have been known since the 1980s (physical effects) and 2006 (neurodevelopmental effects) theres no "hiding" involved.

there are warnings on the boxes , labels, leaflets with medication & have been for a long long time . I don't believe she wasn't warned .I worked in pharmacy for 20yrs & it's always ben told topeople on this medication

Im currently on that same drug, ive been forced to go on birth control so this doesnt happen and every appointment its drilled into my head what could happen if i get pregnant.

My mum was told 40 years ago to terminate me due to epilepsy medication it’s not been hidden it’s well known and also all over the medication leaflets in the box

My mum was put on these drugs as a teenager. She lost 2 babies due to complications with these. She nearly lost me. I have Audhd, learning difficulties, hearing loss since childhood. I don't know if my issues were caused by this.

Started uni in 2013 as student nurse and attended epilepsy clinic, they were discussing it back then.

I was put on this at 13 for a while and then they released it can cause permanent fertility issues when given during puberty and I was taken off of it. They didnt always have warnings but they have known about the risks for years and its only the past few years that its been spoken about!

I talked to my pharmacist about medications and this one was talked about and I got told the risks to pregnancy when taking it

sorry but I think any drug taken can come wirh things like this. but wouldnt know til years down the line. my sons on sodium valproate. its a choice u have to make. seizure and possible death or not have children.
