@thomas.cheevers: Sometimes the most convincing contradiction disappears when you actually read the context. #christiantiktok #apologetics #biblequestions #faithdebate #jesusisking
The problem is that biblical scholars have gone over this. The phrase does indeed mean "You WILL die THE VERY DAY (as in within a 24 hour period) you eat" and no amount of apologetic mental gymnastics can square that circle.
Do I know the languages? No. But then again, I am not medically trained but I trust my doctor. That is not an appeal to authority but just me trusting others who have spent years driving into and studying these things.

Here is a question I would really love answered, how can I tell the difference between conviction and just a regular fear
because this lack of differentiation has started making me feel like everything I do is a sin

And God exiled them from the garden so they wouldn’t eat the fruit from tree of life. The tree that makes them live forever. I always thought that was the whole connection. Since they didn’t eat that fruit, they certainly would die. Also, they would’ve been separated by God through sin, forever.

Hebrew Idiom ("Dying you shall die"): The phrase mot tamut emphasizes certainty rather than immediate timing, meaning "you are certainly doomed to die" or setting a physical dying process into motion.

The Bible has many contradictions it does not attempt to hide. That impossible task has fallen to apologists.

I like to believe that God showed Adam and Eve mercy by giving them a punishment that was less harsh. Judges are allowed to give lesser and reduced sentences. I don't see a contradiction. I do agree with the points you made. Good points. Keep up the good work. ❤️

Adam was told only death would be his punishment so then why was there a bootstrap laundry list of additional punishments added to it? Banishment from the garden, grow your own food thorns etc.. and Eve’s was painful labor, ruled by her husband and every single future generation would also be cursed? Where was that warning?

he told people with the knowledge of a toddler not to do something... like all toddlers they did it anyway (which he already knew would happen due to that cool super power called omnipotence) and 2000 years later people are paying for it and being born into a world of sin ... fucking wild ( but let me guess ... no bro you just don't understand...) it's like watching wives with black eyes make up excuses for their abusive husbands
