It’s going to be a long one. * I genuinely don’t understand why Manchester United fans constantly complain about the club, the board, the players, the manager and the ownership, yet continue to turn up at the stadium, buy tickets and spend money travelling to watch the games. * Why complain if you’re still financially supporting the very people and ownership you claim to be unhappy with? * Stop hiding behind the phrase “We support the team through the ups and downs.” If you genuinely want to make a statement, then take action. * If you want to support change at Manchester United, do something meaningful: * Stop buying match tickets. * Stop attending games. * Stop buying merchandise. * Stop giving the club your money until standards improve and United return to the top. * I would even go as far as demanding that the Glazers, the players, the manager, the CEO and the COO reimburse supporters for their match tickets until Manchester United get back to where they belong. * This is a disaster, and supporters need to stop accepting mediocrity as normal. * Here’s another thing: when players are unhappy, frustrated or unwilling to continue playing for whatever reason, they can walk off the pitch. They can refuse to play. They can make their position clear. * So why shouldn’t supporters have the same right to make a statement? * If players can walk off the pitch when they are unhappy, why should supporters continue walking into the stadium, paying for tickets and pretending everything is fine? * Why not organise peaceful protests, make your opposition impossible to ignore and show the club that supporters will no longer accept the situation? Why should supporters always be the ones expected to turn up, pay their money and accept whatever is put in front of them? * The players can make a statement by refusing to play.
