@nosheenforalumrock: WE DID IT. THE MOTION HAS PASSED! 🇵🇸 Today, Birmingham City Council took a historic stand for human rights, justice and accountability. Our motion calling for divestment from companies complicit in war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide has been PASSED. This was never simply about where public money is invested. It was about the principles we are prepared to stand by, the values we claim to uphold and whether we have the political courage to act on them. Today, Birmingham sent a clear message: our money must not come at the expense of someone else’s humanity. I am immensely proud to have brought this motion forward. Proud of everyone who stood alongside us, and grateful to those who refused to look the other way. This is not the end of the work. Passing a motion is one thing; ensuring its principles translate into meaningful action is another. But tonight, we have taken an important step. History will remember not only those who committed injustice, but those who had the power to challenge it and chose silence.
