But what is truly good? I don’t think it’s walking on your knees and repenting. People often conflate social harmony with piousness and these are not the same thing. I think God would agree that abuse to your body is sinful. Especially we have a primitive part of our brain that prioritizes survival. Abuse is against that. The same way therapy encourages positive self talk, so does God. And maybe a lot of people who have manipulated us into what is good, had nothing to do with God.
