AND HERE IS THE BIT THAT COSTS YOU Every figure on that panel is per serving, and the serving is eight tablets. Take two because two sounds like a normal amount of pills, and you are getting a quarter of every number printed there. HOW THIS IS ALLOWED The rules say the serving size is "the maximum amount recommended, as appropriate, on the label for consumption per eating occasion." The brand writes the directions. The directions define the serving. Every per-serving figure then floats with whatever dose the brand chose to recommend. Servings per container can even be left off entirely when it repeats the net quantity statement. WHAT TO DO INSTEAD Ignore the capsule count on the front. Find servings per container, and divide the price by that. It is the only number on the pack that tells you what a day actually costs. WHAT WE ARE NOT SAYING That this product is bad or that the maker is hiding anything - the panel states all of it plainly, directly under the count. And a multi-tablet serving can be sound formulating, since you cannot fit a full multivitamin into one pill. We are saying the big number on the front and the real number on the back are measuring different things, and only one of them is comparable between brands.
