@tmz: 🚨🗣️ The pilots of the doomed Palm Beach jet were told they could turn left, but not right ... and one aviation expert says the opposite direction may have been the better move.
Why they flew through a storm cell again is a mystery. This same scenario played out on May 6th, 2026 at Teterboro, New Jersey with Learjet N772BD with severe turbulence flying through a storm cell. The tower asked N772BD why they were climbing. At first N772BD unfortunately told the tower a lie on how bad the turbulence from the storm cell was and how badly it was effecting them. They stated it was moderate but came back and told the truth that it was severe after the tower confronted them about it. The tower stated it was severe and for them to lower their altitude. I’m sure the NTSB will investigate this incident as well. You can hear that communications recording on YouTube @VAS Aviation. Aviators all know and it’s common knowledge to set a course around the storm cell 20 miles out. I believe the aircraft already had entered the storm cell because the copilot stated they were in turbulence and she saw precipitation directly afterwards. Once the violent weather turbulence set in and ice started to form on the aircraft’s stabilizer the pilot could no longer control the aircraft. The copilot did ask the tower for a smoother ride because they were experiencing violent 600 to 700 turbulence, which meant they were already in the storm cell. Once they got permission to ascend to 370, they started to climb and all of sudden the aircraft started to descend perhaps due to ice accumulation. The violent turbulence and decent most likely tore off the stabilizer or made it inoperable and all bets were off at that time. The pilot knew they were going down and recovery was not possible. I don’t understand why they chose to proceed through the storm cell. The tower should have been more forceful and insisted the pilot either to go around the storm cell or land at the nearest airport. The permission to climb should have been denied and more questions on exact location and if they had already entered the storm cell at that point. The investigators stated the permission to climb was a thought but perhaps not the right choice. The age factor of the copilot and gender is irrelevant. The older and more experienced pilot knows not to fly into a storm cell. Could it be possible the
