Want wider Delts? Do this! The lateral raise is one of the best exercises for building the side delts and creating more shoulder width. But most people turn it into a full-body exercise—swinging, shrugging and moving a lot more weight than their shoulders can actually control. Try these **3 adjustments**: ** 1. SIT DOWN** Remove momentum and leg drive from the movement so your shoulders have to do the work. When you're standing, it's very easy to start using your legs and hips as the weight gets heavier. Suddenly you're generating plenty of movement—but not necessarily more tension on the muscle you're trying to train. Sit down, stabilize your body and control every rep. **No more flapping your arms! You are not a fish on land! 2. TURN YOUR HANDS INWARD Slightly adjust your hand position to better align the movement with your individual shoulder structure. Not everybody is built exactly the same. Your shoulder joint, arm length and natural movement pattern should influence how you perform an exercise. Don't force yourself into an arbitrary position just because that's how you've always seen lateral raises performed. **Make the exercise fit your anatomy—not the other way around. 3. LEAN FORWARD ABOUT 10 DEGREES** A small forward lean can put the side delts in a better position to produce tension. You don't need to fold yourself in half. We're talking about a subtle adjustment. Stay too upright and start bringing the arms forward, and your lateral raise can quickly become something closer to a front raise. We want to train the **side delts** if shoulder width is the goal. Three small changes. One much better lateral raise. This is something people often misunderstand about training: More weight doesn't automatically mean more muscle. The goal isn't simply to move a dumbbell from Point A to Point B. The goal is to create as much productive tension as possible in the muscle you're actually trying to develop. B Then progressively get stronger. Stop just moving the weight. Train the muscle. 👉 **SAVE this and try all 3 on your next shoulder workout.** And FOLLOW for more no-BS training tips that make your workouts more effective. #LateralRaises #SideDelts #ShoulderWorkout #ShoulderTraining #BuildMuscle
