@untold.texas: In the summer of 1840, the Great Comanche Raid covered more than 400 miles of Texas territory. It reached all the way to the Gulf Coast, where a small port town called Linnville was looted and burned while its residents watched from boats offshore. 🌊 The raiders loaded mule trains with bolts of cloth and trade goods before setting the warehouses on fire. When they rode north, there was almost nothing left. The Republic of Texas never rebuilt on that spot. Port Lavaca rose a few miles up the coast, and Linnville faded from the map. Today that stretch of Lavaca Bay has no marker and no memorial. A town that once received ships from New Orleans is now a quiet shoreline most Texans have never heard of. What else from that day do you think got left out of the history books? #UntoldTexas #TexasHistory #LostTexas #GhostTown #ComancheRaid
