I totally remember that hike! My backpack was also extremely heavy with a tent and stupidly an air mattress! I remember hiking down that first switch back and thinking you know what I don’t care what I have to take out of here right now I gotta lighten up the load in his backpack and sadly what I got rid of was my 22 L bottles of water. I kept one of the three, but I got rid of two. When I got to the town of Havasupai and realized that I still had two more miles to go and it was getting dark I couldn’t believe it. That sign that you saw that said to the campground. It was so dark and one flashlight that I had had dying batteries. I almost missed that sign. Those big fat, wide steps hiking down to the Falls into the campground I did in the absolute total dark. I could hear the waterfall, but I could not see it. I could see the side of the cliff and I just knew that boy I better be careful! Thank you for sharing!
