@jessica.darlin4: On July 23, 1990, rescue crews responding to a vehicle accident along California Highway 33 near Creek Road in Ventura County, California, made a heartbreaking discovery approximately 60 feet down a deep hillside, crews discovered partial human rema1ns of a unidentified woman. A search of the surrounding area was conducted, leading investigators to additional skeletal rema1ns and five teeth. Nearby, they also recovered several personal belongings, including a hairbrush, a metal clasp, and two small pieces of cloth. These items would become some of the few clues available to investigators as they tried to determine who the woman was and how she had ended up on that hillside. Investigators worked tirelessly to uncover the woman’s identity, hoping that even the smallest piece of evidence might lead them to someone who knew her. Dental comparisons were conducted, and a facial reconstruction was created in hopes that someone might recognize her face. But despite their efforts, no one came forward with the answers they so desperately needed. With each passing year, the mystery surrounding her identity remained unsolved and the case went cold. The woman’s remains were entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) under case number UP15158. In 2026 a breakthrough finally #janedoe came when forensic genetic genealogy helped change that. Investigators worked with Othram, a forensic laboratory specializing in advanced DNA testing and genetic genealogy, to develop a DNA profile from the remains and compare it with genetic information connected to potential relatives. Through this process, investigators were able to identify the woman as 57-year- old Patricia Diana Hunt Fielding Patricia was a mother of four who was born in Kern County, California, on October 15, 1933. Although her identity was finally uncovered, very little is known about her life, including where she had been living, what her circumstances were in the years leading up to her de*th, or when she was last seen by those who knew her. Most importantly, the circumstances surrounding her de*th remain a mystery. Somewhere, there may be people who remember Patricia, who knew her story, or who can help fill in the missing pieces of her life.
