As a scad student, depending on your major scad is SO worth it. Some majors you can get just as good, if not better, educations at other schools. I personally have had a great experience with teachers and classmates (but I don’t think most of the bad things abt scad are scad specific but generally *college* highs and lows)

to save money, i recommend community college first! get your foundation classes out of the way with an associates degree. I went to a community college first and I was able to build up my portfolio so that I could get good scad scholarships so now I only pay around 1k per quarter vs the typical amount. saves you from having to take out a bunch of loans.

It’s really expensive and there are so horror stories, I’m here now I’m in the business school and I do really enjoy my classes. Once you find your people it is really enjoyable. Oh and the work load is nuts. If it’s your dream try it out and if you don’t like it you can always transfer

As like all the other people here, I’d highly recommend you do some soul searching and really consider your options. Nearly any art school that isn’t Ringling is better than here, and even then if you can get an opportunity to break into whatever industry you want before college, that’s even better. I truly respect that it’s your dream to be here, it’s amazing that you know you want that. But please, please, for future you’s sanity, this should be your last resort. Think of it as shooting for the moon and landing amongst the stars really. It’s not a bad place to be per se, but there are significantly better places too.

i have to drop out after this year because its so expensive here, like if you aren’t incredibly wealthy already this is not a good choice, they don’t help with financial aid even if you are a good student they just tell you to get predatory loans

Bad decision :
Are you sure SCAD is your #1 option I live in sav ga and know several people that attend and used to go to there and they all hated it

DO NOT RECOMMEND,, scad is a terrible school . it has good programs but the WORST TEACHERS AND PEOPLE , they’re all very ignorant and rude when you’re new to the area
