@gamereactions1: 🚨 Michael Carrick on what he told Shea Lacey before sending him on against AS Roma: 🎙️ Reporter: “Michael, what did you say to Shea Lacey before sending him onto the pitch?” 🗣️ Michael Carrick: “I told him, ‘Don’t come on here trying to prove anything to me or to the crowd. Just play your football.’ “I said, ‘The game is frantic right now, so don’t be afraid to take your man on. If you see the space, attack it. If you lose the ball, go again.’ “I also told him, ‘Your first touch has to tell them what kind of night they’re going to have.’ [laughs] “He’s a young player, so sometimes if you put too much tactical information into his head, you block his natural instinct. I didn’t want that. “I wanted him to come on, be brave, and make their defenders uncomfortable on a big European night under these lights. “I said, ‘Don’t worry about making a mistake. I would rather see you try something ambitious and lose the ball than receive it and play a safe pass sideways because you’re afraid of the spotlight.’ “And I told him one more thing right before he stepped over that touchline: “‘When you get the ball, make them make a decision. Don’t make the decision for them.’ “That was the message. “He came on, immediately started asking questions of their backline, and delivered that brilliant ball for the assist to get us back into the game. He was direct, confident, and completely fearless when the pressure was high. “That’s what we wanted to see. “Sometimes you don’t need to tell a young talent how to play football. You just need to give him the permission to play his football.”#manchesterunited #football #manchesterunitedfans #fanbase #semu

People can understand why I often say that Carrick will only dismiss himself. He has been benching Cunha and denying Shea Lacey playing minutes, yet the two saved him on a day when the ship was nearly sinking. Thanks to Cunha and the young Shea Lacey for their excellent work!

Jeremy Sakda :
