You're interpreting Gyro's growing fondness for Johnny as romantic attraction, but those aren't the same thing. His father's teachings about the golden ratio aren't contradicted by him recognizing it in Johnny's eyes it just shows how close they had bonded but being close doesn’t necessarily mean being romantically in love. Finding beauty in someone doesn't automatically mean you're romantically in love with them, nor does it mean you've abandoned your principles. I mean no disrespect honestly, i actually like the queer characters and aspects of the story. Yet it bothers me to some extent how people automatically label close friendships between men as homoerotic. Can't two men share genuine affection and emotional intimacy without everything having to be romantic? Platonic love deserves just as much recognition.

you put that scene into words perfectly. I LOVE THEM SO BAD. Realising he’s succumbed to sentimentality and not fighting it despite everything his father taught him, and continuing to let his fondness for Johnny to grow. People say gyjo makes no sense but their story and growth depends on eachother, they’re extremely close, and it’s not wrong to interpret it as romantic. I’d infact argue a romantic interpretation adds more depth to some of the scenes for the person reading it. As long as you’re pure of heart 😁
