Danish: i have never been to a library, including my school library at the small village school i went to, that had a limit to how many books were could borrow. What's the normal limit in your library?

My daughter was devastated two weeks ago because she forgot her library book. The librarian let her checkout another one anyways and she has been talking about it ever since. You all make a HUGE difference in these kiddos lives. ❤️

My child’s school librarian is so restrictive. She limits what they can and cannot check out based on grade. It makes me nuts and makes my kid so frustrated so currently we have her allotted two books from school and 48 books and one board game from our local library.

At my roommates kid’s library the kids check their own books in and out because there are scanners at the door they just scan their school ID and then books

Although I totally agree you have a HUGE Library. You are gifted many items to add to your collection. We all don't have that. If I didn't restrict (which I hate doing) I wouldn't have any Library books to let kids take. It's a terrible situation but sometimes necessary. No hate just a different way of having to do it.

I love the library Pac-Man but that's because I don't have to do it. But I do also have OCD and I find it so relaxing. I love finding fun ways to make jobs that are not fun into a game.

once i liked a book so much I never turned it in and my parents had to pay. Its been 20 years or so and I just now told my parents that I kept it 😅

I have the kids scan them in and put them on my cart as they walk in. They know they are free to grab books from the cart and sometimes they can barley wait until their friend scans them in so they can immediately grab it and scan it out 😂

My kids teacher at their 3-5 school only let them check out 1 book each week. When they came to middle school they were in the library every day multiple times a day because they could.

Totally understand your reasoning. I do have one question though; what do you do if a book is super popular and is wanted before the end of the day? I'm guessing it's as simple as you just check it in real quick and hand it to the student, but just wanted to make sure (signed a former student who would have been stalking that pile for the next BSC or Sweet Valley High book) 🥰

The sheer volume of check outs/ins at the regional library I worked at was astonishing!!! We had two to three clerks 4 hours each just to check in!!! On school breaks and holidays the volume increased so we’d had all bins overfilled and used boxes to stack because we’d get so behind!!! I’m glad people like to read

I mean it's better than the paper check out system I grew up with lol sometimes it would take a week for the librarian to get it done
