@betterwithbiscuits: Y’all have been asking for Cornbread Dressing. Well, here it is y’all! A blend of family recipes that I’ve compiled into my own. Y’all give it a try! Use that broth I showed yall yesterday for even more deliciousness! Make this ahead of time and keep it in the fridge for a day or two until you’re ready to cook it, or freeze it if you really wanna get a jump on the Holiday cooking. Just make sure everything is cool before going in the fridge/freezer. #cornbreaddressing #thanksgivingdinner #recipeideas #southerncooking #fyp

Southern Cornbread Dressing Cornbread for Dressing: 1 recipe of packaged cornbread (NOT any type of sweet cornbread) prepared according to package instructions I use either: Martha White Self Rising Cornmeal Mix Make cornbread a day ahead of time and leave it out to dry. To prepare Dressing: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a LARGE bowl … emphasis on LARGE, add: - the pan of cornbread crumbled into fine crumbles - 1 sleeve of saltine crackers - 6 pieces of dry toast OR 3-4 dried biscuits - 3 cups of Pepperidge Farm Seasoned Herb Stuffing Mix (blue bag) - 3 stalks of chopped celery - 1 medium/large chopped onion (yellow or sweet) - 10 cups of chicken/turkey stock (homemade or boxed/canned) - 1 10.5 can Cream of Chicken OR Homemade*** - 3 beaten eggs - Poultry Seasoning, Salt, pepper, and Sage to taste! - OPTIONAL: shredded chicken or turkey COVER WITH FOIL Bake for 25-30 minutes. Remove foil and bake until dressing is set and top is slightly browned. *** Homemade Cream of Chicken To a saucepan on medium heat, add: - 2 Tbsp butter and allow to melt - 2 Tbsp all purpose flour - Whisk and allow to cook for 2 minutes - 2 cups chicken broth - Whisk constantly to remove lumps - 1 tsp Poultry Seasoning Let simmer until thick enough to hold a line in the back of the spoon. Allow to cool before using! Enjoy! - Dylan Better With Biscuits

Yum!! I make mine basically the same way only I don't add eggs. I've had it both ways and there's no difference that I've noticed so I just leave them out

I can’t do the Vidalia onions in my dressing. Didn’t you say, “Nothing sweet”?? I live 45 minutes from there, so it goes in everything else. 😁 But not potato salad! Oh gees… cooking can be a lot, can’t it?

Why do people don’t like you to eat raw eggs when you mix it in something and they swallow it so what is the difference…

To each his own: I don't do sage. I add some chicken (1-2 cups) to mine. Cornbread is pre-cooked, lace cornbread.

I always use the blue bag, and has all seasoning in it you need. I do not cook my cornbread ahead and it turns out perfect every time.
