Currently in mortuary school and took funeral marketing. We were not taught how to sell more expensive caskets. We were taught what type of woods and metals caskets were made out of and how they are measured. Funeral directors (if you go to the right ones) are not trying to scam you out of your money. We do not control the pricing of caskets. We want to help you remember your loved one in the best way possible. Maybe the school she went to and preceptor she had are in it for the money but I promise you not all funeral directors are like that. Some of us are actually there to help you.

We went to a funeral director through our church, they had an embalmer and all the needed things. Quoted us 15 thousand. For a casket and burial… not including cost of the plot or headstone. We did it because it’s our church! Ofcourse they’re finding us the best price. Only to find out 5 years later the church got a 50% cut of any sale. They doubled the price, so the church made close to 7k off of someone dying.
