@psychnursekait: Voluntary admissions do not exist in psych I fear. And yes, I feel ridiculous explaining it because it is a ridiculous system #psychnurse #inpatientmentalhealth #inpatientpsych #mentalhealthnurse #nurselife
Your ability to stop them from leaving his entirely dependent upon their ability to fight you to get your keys/badge to leave.

I'm worthlessPOS :
eveey time I went in voluntarily I left when I wanted too. The only times I was forced to stay was when the cops took me

I worked with a travel nurse from Canada and she said there the voluntary admits can sign themselves out when they want because they’re voluntary. I always wondered what the difference in reasoning was for why they can’t do that here

And honestly it's for good reasons. The problem is that patients are not told before they sign in exactly what it means. That needs to change so there are very few surprises. At admission this needs to happen.

This is why I will never go to the hospital for mental health, I won’t even be honest with the therapist

Learned the hard way. Took 3 days to leave AMA

And signing out AMA doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get to go home. They may decide you are not in your right mind and your voluntary hospitalization can become involuntary, at least that’s how it is where I live. So glad a behavioral tech stopped me from signing myself out AMA by telling me that I could end up on an involuntary hold in state psych by doing that.

i hated this 😬 came in voluntarily, amd they lied to me till I was beyond the anti-elopement doors. had to beg to be allowed to write down phone numbers from my phone before they confiscated it

I went voluntarily bc I thought it was a 3 day hold. I was in that mf for a week. Then I had php from 9am-3pm for 2 weeks. Then I had iop for 2 weeks. On top of it all I had to go into a dual rehab treatment bc the percentage of thc in my blood. So I was getting drug tested daily 😭😭😭 it was a lot. Like a lot of a lot

it's so strange reading the charts say something like "patient is voluntary, will reconsider if desiring to leave"
