@creamyposh: 💔 SHE WAS JUST TWO MILES FROM THE FINISH LINE… AND NEVER MADE IT HOME. What was supposed to be a beautiful tribute to her late grandfather ended in unimaginable heartbreak. Rachel Apa, a 24-year-old former college athlete from Pennsylvania, tragically passed away on November 1, 2026, after collapsing during her first New York City Marathon. Rachel had spent months training for the 26.2-mile race. She was running with the Parkinson’s Champions team in honor of her beloved grandfather, who died from Parkinson’s disease in 2022. She was reportedly just two miles from the finish line when she collapsed in Central Park. Rachel was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she passed away later that evening. According to her father, Steve Apa, she suffered from rhabdomyolysis, a serious condition involving the breakdown of muscle tissue that can lead to life-threatening complications. One moment, she was smiling, waving, and chasing a meaningful dream. Hours later, her family was facing a loss no parent should ever have to endure. 💔 She ran for love. She ran for remembrance. And although she never crossed that finish line, her story will touch countless hearts. Rest peacefully, Rachel Apa. 🕊️ Our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. 🙏 Source: Associated Press, NBC New York, New York Post. It’s so strange because you see so many young people dying, and doing sports. We never used to see that before Covid.

As fellow New Yorker born and raised here. SHE CROSS THAT LINE AND CAME FIRST PLACE I DONT CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS TO ME. She won my heart and may she rest easy and be in the grace of the lord. Embracing the love of Jesus.

For anyone wondering it happens when you don’t actually spend the time and effort training long term. Slowly building up to do 26 miles. That’s why why people train for a year before doing a marathon. Your body needs type to adapt to those kind of conditions

Humans weren’t meant to run long distances. We were designed to walk them and run short distances. These marathons are ridiculous

Rabdo is incredibly painful and serious the fact she was able to push through for that long shows just how much will power she had

I literally don’t watch the news because I’m a serious empath and end up mad or in tears and it’s taking over my TT. I can’t stop crying for all the pain in the world and I can’t do a damn thing to help any of them.
