Also there is a Big brick house up past the trash dump that was used as a military hospital after the battle of Saltville and it’s made from handmade bricks using horse hair as a binder. The guy who owns it has the antique shop in Chilhowie.

I grew up down the road near Patterson Mill on Little Rock Rd. I always heard a different story of the mill growing up that it was a Union Soldier who came to the Mill during Stoneman’s Raids and that he was shot through the door trying to break in.
