@darlenetpai: Your oncologist gives you more than one treatment option. Now what? Knowing that choices exist is not the same as understanding how to participate in choosing among them. A better starting point is to slow the conversation down and ask: • Which options are medically appropriate for my situation? • Which treatment do you recommend—and why? • What are the expected benefits and major risks? • How could each option affect treatment schedules, recovery, and daily responsibilities? • How much time do I have to consider the decision? • What questions are still unanswered? Your personal priorities matter too. Transportation, caregiving, work, recovery concerns, and other responsibilities can help your oncology team better understand your circumstances. The goal is not to replace medical judgment. It is to become better prepared to understand the recommendation, communicate what matters to you, and participate meaningfully in an important healthcare decision. #PersonalAdvocacy #PatientAdvocacy #CancerCare #HealthcareCommunication #SharedDecisionMaking https://dtpai.org/compare-cancer-treatment-options/
