Electoral vote protects the rest of America. If it was popular vote, you’d see people only campaign in New York, Florida, Cali and Texas. Electoral vote slightly over represents smaller or rural states so that presidents still have to campaign and care about them

No, the founding fathers set up the electoral college for a reason. We don’t need to replicate other countries our system works for stability between states and groups within a large country. It doesn’t mean you will always get your way but it’s the ballast for the American Republic

The reason was not to sideline smaller states, that matters because we aren’t a democracy we are a federal republic who is a union of states. We didn’t want a tyranny of the majority, we had to preserve economic and strategic issues that I bc love smaller states. They say land doesn’t vote but it does benefit you and feed you
