I found a hint that might lead us to zhongli's origins. I have read the Genshin developer's official dialogue and it further convinced me that zhongli is the GOLDEN LION mentioned the lunar arcanum: the World and that TEYVAT is actually zhongli's PERSONAL TEAPOT aka SUBSPACE CREATION. fyi the golden lion is the one responsible for DESIGNING AND CREATING the world (+irminsul) using MEMORIES. "FOLLOWING ALL that is REMEMBERED, the WORLD STANDS FIRM" & "MEMORY is DESIGN." but that world is said to be INCOMPLETE, so eventually, the golden twins (traveler) will join hands to finally complete it (also by FOLLOWING THEIR MEMORIES). So how does this connect to zhongli? he's not just very obsessed with preserving history, but his most suspicious trait is his CRYSTAL CLEAR MEMORY. Remember what tubby said about subspace creation? "As long as you have a blueprint, you can refashion this realm however you please. Just commit the image of the objects to MEMORY. Then, simply release the THOUGHT FROM YOUR MIND and the object in the blueprint SHALL APPEAR within this teapot". now, here's what's more suspicious, what madam ping said about zhongli's version of subspace creation: "Indeed, the teapot is nothing to boast of. One such as myself MUST DEPART FROM THIS REALM to create a world of one's own. REX LAPIS, on the other hand, MOVED MOUNTAINS AND SEAS... That is what one might call an exercise of TRUE POWER." this implies that, unlike other adepti who're only capable of making a pocket realm (teapot), Zhongli's subspace creation literally involves CHANGING TERRAINS OF THE PHYSICAL WORLD, meaning TEYVAT ITSELF is his PERSONAL subspace. Zibai also noted his power to move mountains and FILL SEAS. in this case, reshaping reality this way in such a great scale would require u to have incredibly vivid memories in order to ground that existence.
