@politicprepper: As the Blue Wave builds tonight-Democrats with House and Senate control leaning their way-Senate Majority Leader John Thune owns a big share of the blame. While a lot of the things Trump has done since re-taking office (ESPECIALLY the Iran War) have done nothing but hurt the GOP-it was the public perception that the Republicans "do nothing" while inflation runs rampant and the American citizen gets squeezed from every direction-that in my opinion-ultimately was the nail in the coffin for the GOP. And that belongs to Congress every bit as much as it does with the President! The House passed the SAVE America Act (proof of citizenship + photo ID to vote) multiple times, including 218-213 in February. Trump called it his No. 1 priority. Under Thune it repeatedly died in the Senate. Cloture votes failed in the 48-53 range. He refused to touch the filibuster despite Trump’s public demands not to leave town until it passed, White House warnings that patience was “running out,” and pressure from senators like Mike Lee. Other House-passed priorities suffered the same fate, including the Sunshine Protection Act (permanent Daylight Saving Time), which cleared the House 307-117 or better and then stalled under Thune. His ongoing public clashes with Trump over the SAVE Act, the filibuster, and nominees further highlighted the disconnect with the 2024 mandate. Republicans had the House, Senate, and White House. Thune’s refusal to fight for the popular bills the base demanded (and an apparent feud with Trump) helped turn that into tonight’s losses. #JohnThune #Midterms #democrats #GOP #politicprepper
