i’m not ace but when i told my mom i wasn’t interested in having kids she told me that reproducing was my only purpose in life and that if i didn’t i would die unhappy and that she would forever be disappointed in me. i hope both OP and his son are doing well now ❤️

Ur son is still very young....I'm so happy that u stand by him. Ur wife's comment about having a grandchild helping with the grief of loosing a child , will never work, believe me I no, I lost a child, & i have a granddaughter who I love more than life itself, but she doesnt fill the void of the child i lost. Ur wife is putting unessacery pressure on ur son, she's gonna end up pushing away ur son.

I'm only aro so I might be off here, but isn't it too soon for him to know at 17? like he already knows it isn't a late blooming, no discovery phase and I don't see why mmos is relevent here unless they know he's autistic and its his special interest and thats how he knows for sure. If someone who's aroace can chime in that would be great. btw not justifying the mothers actions, she can go fuck herself even if that won't get her any closer to grandkids

Okay so.. I’m a lesbian, my kids have 2 mums. Eldest is bi, second eldest is gay. Sister 1 is pansexual, brother is gay, sister 2 is ace. Nephew is aro-ace.. he told his mum (sister 1) the other day. So proud of him. 2 of my boys haven’t identified as anything but they know they can come to us about anything. I also have 2 straight siblings. We’re very mixed. It doesn’t matter how you identify or who you intend to sleep with or not. What matters is making sure they feel loved, supported and accepted.

"You coddle him and now we'll never have grandkids." 1) nobody's entitled to that and 2) he's 17, that's still being a teenager, he hasn't really started living his own life yet. He needs time to be out in the world and figure out if marriage and kids is right for him. Right now he's in AP classes, getting good grades, he works a job, he's juggling enough at his age. Mom needs to back off before he decides to go NC as soon as he leaves the house to go to college.
