@mosheh: Democrat Abdul El-Sayed defeated Republican Mike Rogers in Michigan’s Senate race, winning one of the country’s most contentious and closely watched contests to become the first Muslim American elected to the U.S. Senate. His victory came as Democrats swept to House and Senate majorities Tuesday, scoring major wins in a sharp rebuke to President Trump. In his victory speech, El-Sayed declared that the “bad guys lost” and that “many won, and money lost,” before addressing Trump and Vice President JD Vance. “JD, habibi,” he said, pointing to Vance’s constitutional role in administering the oath to senators in January. “Donald, I know you struggle with my name, so when JD swears me in, you can call me ‘Senator.’” He added: “May we never have to see the likes of you in Michigan again.”
