@mothershipsg: Those accused of offences under Singapore's Transboundary Haze Pollution Act (THPA) would have their cases heard in court even if they are absent. During the second reading of the Transboundary Haze Pollution (Amendment) Bill on Nov. 4, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu said this would apply under specified circumstances, including when the accused has been properly notified of the proceedings and informed that the case may go ahead without them. The court must also be satisfied that there is no sufficient reason to postpone the hearing. "These amendments will help ensure that entities cannot frustrate enforcement simply by being difficult to contact or by remaining outside Singapore," said Fu. #mothershipparliament #fyp #sg #singapore
