I can not put the amount of envy in my heart into words. The envy in my heart is not a simple jealousy, not the kind that fades when someone looks away or when the thing I desire becomes insignificant. It is something uglier, something that has learned to breathe in the darkest corners of my mind, feeding on every happiness I witness that does not belong to me. I hate how effortlessly others seem to receive the things I have spent my entire existence begging the universe for, how they laugh without knowing the weight of their own happiness, how they sleep peacefully while I lie awake counting everything I lack. Their joy feels like an insult, their success like a personal humiliation, their existence like a cruel reminder that the world has favorites and I was never one of them. I find myself studying their smiles, memorizing the little details of their lives, wondering what it would feel like to wear their happiness like stolen skin. Sometimes I imagine their laughter disappearing, their perfect little worlds collapsing into the same emptiness that has swallowed mine, and the thought frightens me—not because I feel sorry for them, but because some rotten part of me feels relieved. I hate that I can recognize beauty and immediately wonder why it wasn't given to me. I hate that compliments sound like comparisons, that celebrations feel like competitions, that someone else's light makes me painfully aware of the darkness I carry. The envy has become an unwanted companion, whispering things I would never dare say aloud, turning innocent moments into evidence of my inferiority and other people's happiness into something I cannot bear to witness. And the worst part is that I know it is consuming me; I can feel it hollowing out everything decent inside my chest, leaving behind a cold, trembling hunger that no amount of admiration, attention, or success could ever satisfy. I don't simply want what they have anymore. I want to stop feeling like the universe made a mistake when it made me, and somewhere along the way, that desperate wish became tangled with something darker, something that makes me wonder whether I would even recognize myself if the envy ever finally let go. #hate #envy #fortnite #piratetoken
