@mothershipsg: "We will not be conquered,” Democrat James Talarico told supporters in his victory speech after defeating Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in Texas’s U.S. Senate race. The win was the first for a Democrat in a Texas U.S. Senate race since 1988 and helped end the party’s 32-year losing streak in statewide elections. U.S. President Donald Trump had carried Texas by nearly 14 percentage points in 2024 and backed Paxton, who unseated four-term Senator John Cornyn in the Republican primary runoff. Reuters reported that Republicans spent more than US$316 million trying to hold the seat. Talarico addressed that spending in his speech. “We just proved that all the money in the world is no match for the people of Texas,” he said. “We just showed that a politics of division is no match for a politics of love.” #mothershipabroad #mothershipnews
