@news.hunter.fast: Gabby Williams Recalls the “Bewildering” Moment Michael Jordan Texted Her After Her WNBA Finals MVP Win Gabby Williams was driving when Michael Jordan texted her. Williams, 30, told PEOPLE her Jordan rep had warned her ahead of time. “It’s not spam, but you’re gonna get a text,” he said. She still told herself, “Do not crash your car.” She pulled over and read it. She says Jordan congratulated her and said it had been an amazing season. He ended with two words: “Stay hungry.” She says, “That felt like a very Michael Jordan thing to say.” Days earlier, her Golden State Valkyries won the franchise’s first title in its second year. They beat the Atlanta Dream 68-63 in Game 7 on Saturday, Oct. 31. Williams scored 30 points and won Finals MVP. She scored 28 of them in the second half, after struggling early. Before the game, she says she was smiling in warmups on Halloween, her favorite holiday. Her agent told her she looked too loose. She says she was enjoying the moment. Near the end, she remembers thinking, “This is absolutely going to be the longest 18 seconds of my life.” She says, “It’s like a fever dream.” The team’s parade was set for Wednesday, Nov. 4, in San Francisco. Williams joined Golden State in April after seven years with the Chicago Sky and Seattle Storm. She says having the ball late doesn’t feel scary, because her teammates “will love me through it.” Would you have been able to stay calm? #Sports #Golden #WNBA #MichaelJordan #WNBA
