Hello, hello! It’s Black Rose again! This is a short video about rhyming words with the ending tone in the language of Hmong in the dialect of Mong Leng. It’s going to help you understand and remember the rhymes of the words that have the ending tone that have a special sound to help you read and write in Mong Leng. Please remember that the Mong Leng language is a tonal language. A tone marker appears at the end of the word creating a special sound. In the Hmong writing all words do not write as compound words and the tones, b, g, j, MUST never be used in front of a word at any time that makes the writing unique. So read the terms and the story below to find out what the tone sound made. Tones: b, d, g, j, m, s, v Notes: For the tone “s” is called “cim mus, s” as in White Hmong dialect because in Mong Leng, there’s no word to describe this tone “s”. Ending tone: m Writing Formula B: consonant+vowel+tone= word om, word Families: 1. tsom; to look (ts+o+m= tsom); but the story “Tsom” is the boy’s name, just to make the story more fun. 2. txhom, to catch (txh+o+m= txhom) 3. nyom, grass (ny+o+m= nyom) Ib zaaj keeb kwm txug ib tug mi tub lub npe hua ua Tsom hab nwg tug aub dlha ua si tom lub vaaj nyom. Kuv tug aub wb mas sib txhom hab dlha ib nub nkaus, muaj kev lom zem heev! Wb mas yeej tsi xaav lug tseem le. Vim nwg yog ib nub zoo nkauj heev, muaj cua tuaj laaj quas ntxag. Kuv tug aub mas dlaa haav nyom ib nub ua rua nwg lu nyom taag le. Peb lug txug tsev kuv nam muab wb dlaa dlej. Wb moog pw mas tsaug zug zoo kawg!” A story of a boy named Cha and his dog chasing each other for fun at the park. Chao said, “Today is a hot sunny day and it’s a great day to be at the park. My mother and my dog, we went to the park for some fresh air. My dog and I chased each other the whole day, it was so fun that we didn't want to go home. It was a beautiful day with a nice breeze. My dog rolled all day on the grass and the grass got all over the dog. So when we got home, my mother gave us a bath and we fell asleep fast.” Translation of the introduction by the boy in the video into English: The boy said, “My name is Chao. My dog and I chase each other around for fun. Sometimes we chase each other all day and I am completely exhausted.
