as a former foster mom, youre supposed to be in love with him. after my first placement left (respite) I asked "how does anyone do this when it hurts so much?" and a mom responded with "if it ever stops hurting, thats your sign to stop"

my mum said the same thing about getting attached to someone else's baby when I was 20 and my boyfriends ex had their baby. She was pregnant before I met him. That was 12 years ago and now that boyfriend is my husband and his son lives with us primarily so how wrong was she. She still refuses to meet my step son because she doesn't want to get attached... because of that she hasnt met her other 2 and only grandchildren. I wont let her treat any of my children differently to another of my children.

I did that 22 times. “I couldn’t do that because I’m too soft-hearted” was the phrase I heard the most….which made me hard-hearted and cold, I guess.
