I remember when all RPF was removed from ff.net because of legal & moral issues about writing about a real person. There was even cease and desist orders for these types of fics. I started seeing them again the last few years, which I found odd since I thought everyone was still scared of writing those types of fics.

(I can’t believe I’m about to say this but) that disclaimer was so big of a thing that as a middle schooler in the early 2000s I wrote a fanfic for a class assignment and wrote it at the top of the page. I didn’t even know why people did it, had no idea who Anne Rice was, it was just THAT normal

I used to do that when I was like 10-13 but for the past few years I've just been putting "(series name) fic" at the top with the title to make it clear that they aren't mine.

I remember when I started writing fics in 2017 at the age of 13, I didn't know why we added the "Disclaimer: All rights to the OG author" but I did it. I heard horrible tales about laws and I was hella scared of getting sued for my fic[Freudentränen]
