John Henry Bonham, born on May 31, 1948, was the iconic drummer for the rock band Led Zeppelin. He was celebrated for his speed, power, distinctive sound, and incredible groove, making him one of the most influential drummers in history. Bonham started playing drums at age 5, eventually receiving a full drum set at 15. His journey led him to form Led Zeppelin in 1968 with Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones. He was known for his hard-hitting hard rock style, but he also incorporated funk and Latin influences into Led Zeppelin's music. His drum solo "Moby Dick" was a concert highlight, often lasting over 20 minutes. Beyond Led Zeppelin, Bonham also played for other artists like Wings. Bonham played with Led Zeppelin until his passing at 32 in September 1980. The band disbanded out of respect for him. Mostly self-taught, he was influenced by drumming legends like Max Roach and Buddy Rich. His influence continues to inspire drummers today, including Dave Grohl and Neil Peart. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 as a member of Led Zeppelin, and Rolling Stone named him the greatest drummer of all time in 2016. #JohnBonham #LedZeppelin #Drummer #rocklegend #onthisday - @richardakers27
