Mind you nearly 30 million people of voting age don’t have an ID, so that’s why you shouldn’t need one

It’s not a genuine question. If it was you would do the 40 seconds of research to see the arguement for it and against it

You have to be registered to vote. They don’t just hand everyone a ballot.

It’s redundant. There currently is not a state the doesnt require ID to either register or cast you vote. The only difference is if a state requires for registration, for casting your vote or for both but 100% of states require ID at some point in the process. Trump is able to make these claims because he knows the common person will just believe that some states allow 0 ID at any point when that is not the case

Disenfranchised people may not have the means to get an ID and I really don’t see how or why you need one to vote

ID is required to vote. You just don’t need it at the ballot because you’re already registered. It can be cost prohibitive and/or take a very long time to get an ID/replacement ID. We want voting to be as easy as possible, either side should agree with that if they earnestly want every citizens voice heard. The problem is, one side doesn’t.

Are you for any citizen being able to obtain a free ID? (Could even create a low cost voter ID for people without a government issued one)

Because it costs money to get an ID. Which then means it would cost money to vote. Voting should always be free and as accessible as possible.

It’s a poll tax if you have to buy an ID to vote

Because we dont want untrained volunteers at thousands of polling stations to be responsible for verifying id’s. We want the state registration offices to have that role, which they currently do, which has resulted in elections so secure that fraud is virtually zero

Refer to the constitution for the requirements for voting…is state mandated identification part of it? No? Well there’s your answer.
